Coatings glass have unique properties that are especially focused on the energy efficiency of the building, economic savings in air conditioning and heating. Today, any type of glazing must be fitted with a minimum of such glass in order to meet the requirements of the regulations.
This type of glass must always be found in a glazing, starting from the double glazing. They can be used on both side #2 and side #3 depending on the project’s purpose. They can also be combined to achieve even better performance.
The most important spectrophotometric values for this type of glass are :
– Light transmission ( Tl % )
The higher the value, the greater the transparency of the glass.
– Solar factor ( Fs or g % )
Related to the amount of heat it lets into the building.
– Reflection ( Re, Ri, % )
Related to sunlight, the higher the value, the more reflective the glass.
– Thermal transmittance (Ug = W/m²K )
Indicates how much heat is passing through the surface, the higher this value the worse the thermal behaviour of the glass. It is related to Uf, adding it up would give the Uw that would be the thermal performance of the window. The optimum values for the Ug value would be 1.0 and 1.1 (double glazing) depending on the purpose of the glazing.
